My Feelings Give Me Clues | Printable Body Awareness Lesson for Ages 5–7
Does your child struggle to recognize what they are feeling until the emotion has already become overwhelming?
Feelings often create physical clues before they become too big. A fast heartbeat, tight muscles, shaky hands, a warm face, or a “funny” feeling in the stomach can help children understand what their bodies are trying to communicate.
Through the relatable story “Kayden’s Big Day at FunSplashes,” children explore the physical sensations Kayden experiences during an emotional moment. They will practice connecting body clues to emotions so they can recognize and respond to their feelings earlier.
Your child will practice how to:
• Notice physical sensations connected to emotions
• Identify where feelings may show up in the body
• Connect body clues with possible feelings
• Recognize emotional signals before they become overwhelming
• Pause and listen to what their body is communicating
• Explain body clues to a trusted adult
• Choose a helpful response based on what they notice
